RALEIGH, N.C. (WTVD) -- Hurricane season took effect on June 1, and the National Hurricane Center (NHC) is already watching an area off the Southeast coast for possible development. The NHC dropped the chance for coastal development to 0% on Wednesday morning.
We're expecting rain in Central NC from this system on Thursday. Areas along the I-95 corridor could see the highest rainfall amounts with 1" or more of rain possible.
Rain totals will not be as significant the farther west you go.
Rain could impact the morning commute in the Sandhills on Thursday, and could impact the evening commute elsewhere. Most of the rain wraps up by the early morning hours of Friday.
This will be a quick-moving system as a front moving in this weekend will sweep it out to sea. As this coastal low pulls away from us, an isolated storm remains possible into Friday. Highs then will be in the upper 80s.
Storms are expected at times through the afternoon and evening on Saturday and Sunday, but it will not be raining all day on either of those days. Highs will be around 90 degrees on Saturday, and in the upper 80s for Sunday.
