RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C. (WTVD) -- A powerful tribute is on full display in the heart of the Triangle. The Rotary Club of Durham's Flags for Heroes project has transformed the Hub RTP (300 Park Offices Drive, Durham) into a sea of 500 American flags, each representing a local hero.
Whether it's a veteran, teacher, first responder, or someone who's made a positive impact, the community was invited to honor them by sponsoring a flag in their name.
An online gallery is available to view these heroes or locate their flag placement on the field, click here.
On June 14, the public is invited to a formal ceremony with local leaders at the Field of Honor to commemorate Flag Day. The event begins at 9 am.
The 2025 Flags for Heroes events began on May 18 with a Flag Raising and Volunteer Celebration. The day featured performances by the Southwest Elementary School Choir, a DJ, and the Durham Fire Department's ladder truck.
The project serves as a fundraiser for the Rotary Club of Durham, with proceeds benefiting local veteran and youth programs.
ABC11 is a proud sponsor of the Rotary Club of Durham's Flags for Heroes project.
